When I began the journey of opening this clinic for men, I envisioned a ‘one stop shop’ that would provide the services you expect from a family practice doctor along with specific treatment programs for conditions like erectile dysfunction and low testosterone. My goal is to give men an individualized plan tailored for their needs, and those needs involve preventative and primary care.
When I shared my vision, I got two different reactions. One was “Wow! That is a great idea; a clinic for men doesn’t really exist around here.” The other reaction was “Why only for men?” It’s the latter reaction that fueled the launch of Optimum Mens Health. Why not just for men? Women have doctors that focus solely on women’s health, but typically clinics for men focus on one thing and one thing only: either erectile dysfunction or testosterone therapy.
Men appreciate going to one provider for all their needs, whether it’s an annual physical, a flu shot, an infection, high blood pressure, testosterone replacement, or erectile dysfunction. It’s comforting when one provider can help with all aspects of your health. Looking at the entire picture when treating you for specific conditions to see how they might intertwine or affect another aspect of your care benefits your health.
And let’s admit it—sometimes talking about certain male issues can be embarrassing. Being a middle aged male myself, I can identify with many symptoms patients come in for. I know how uncomfortable it can be to try and talk about a defect in my “man armor” with another man, let alone a female provider! At Optimum Mens Health, we want you to feel comfortable discussing all of your health concerns. That’s why we’ve created a man only environment with providers you can relate to.
